Yeay! Internet!

Yes!
I found wireless internet connection downstairs!!
Now I can sit in front of the television whilst being online.
best sangat.

I went in this morning, and two more questionnaires had came back.
damn annoying.
I already finish writing in all my results, percentage calculations and inserting all my tables and graphs in my report, and now I have to re-do everything again to accommodate those two extra questionnaires.
You tell me annoying or not??
Just conclusion left to write, and a bit of polishing up and then it's all DONE! Yes!
Next audit coming up next week....

Managed to sum up the courage to ask my supervisor if I could go home to do another project.
Well, I didn't get a very positive feedback from it.
Firstly, I would need to talk to that person and discuss with her and then that person would have to discuss with the big boss.
Then I would have to find another new supervisor in Aberdeen to take on my project, as well as another supervisor in Malaysia.
Next I would have to come up with a proper feasible project which shows RESULTS. Because they're so damn scared that I go back to Malaysia for a four week holiday instead of doing work.
I would also need to submit a new form with the proposed project written up.
So yeah, how is it possible for me to do all that by next week?
Not to mention the booking of plane tickets back home etc.
In addition, if I went back and did my project and came back with no results, and they think that I went back for a holiday instead, I could fail my elective which mean I could fail my 5th year.
and that would be disastorous wouldn't it?
and my supervisor has a new audit project for me, so she thinks that I should just stay here and write up my existing project and do another audit project, at least I could put those two into my CV for specialty training in the future. Instead of going back and leave my existing project half-written and then ending up with nothing, and failing my elective and failing my 5th year. omg, why am I so long-winded.

So yeah, shall be growing mold here in Aberdeen for another 4 more weeks.

Damn annoyed. I hate the snow.
Walked to school today. Had to trudge through heavy heavy snow, nearly slipped on the snow a few times. My glasses all fogging up and snow falling heavily enough to obscure most of my view.
Frozen toes. No more wearing ballet flats to walk to school.
and soaking wet clothes clinging to your body as you saunter around during ward rounds.
Urgh.

crap weather

I hate the damn rain.

I hate the bloody wind messing up my hair.

Stupid grey skies.

The mind numbing cold.

Every morning the alarm clock on my mobile goes off. I awake in a daze walk over to the table pick it up and switch it off and crawl back into the warm comforts of the bed.

Sleep my only salvation in life.

Mesti mesti drag myself to school tomorrow no matter what.
Enough of slacking at home yeah.

I stink

I wanna tell you that I stink.

Why ah?

This is because I haven't bathed the whole day yet.

And I've been walking around the whole of Aberdeen since morning.

HHAHAHHAHHAHHA.

Funny leh.

I need to stop sitting here in front of the computer and marinating and seeping in my own smelliness.

Eww ewwww.

Bye. I go shower first.

Emo-ness

Hope I get out of this negative mood which I am in lately FAST!

wargh shit

shit

why my life is so damn boring wan.
help help help help.
Aberdeen is....to sum it up in 3 words. COLD, WINDY, GREY.

I got nothing interesting to write.

Mok came to visit me for the weekend.
we went and makan makan makan.

~Ashvale Fish and Chips.
~Duthie Park
~Dim Sum at Yang Tze.

Anyway it's true that Yang Tze is under a new management now.
Some of their dim sum stuff is not up to standard. Eg. my favourite the salad prawn. It's 3 pounds and no.1 they chop in other stuff in addition to the prawn. no.2 it's so damn tiny. Wah so not worth it. I shall continue fantasizing about Manchester dim sum yeah.

Anyway at least their seafood noodle was quite nice. hahha.

Me and Mok tried to walk to Duthie Park this morning.
I wasn't sure of the road, so we ended up walking the wrong road.
Then we stopped and asked for directions from this old man.
The old man thought that his own explanation was confusing, so he walked us along the road, met some of his church friends and ask them if anybody has a car and could give us a ride to Duthie Park.
So this lady volunteered to drive us there cause it was on the way.
hahaha. So lucky. Seriously.
Aberdonians can be damn nice. Mok says that there's no way any Dundee people will ever offer to drive a random stranger.
Thank goodness for the ride, or else it would at least have taken us another half an hour to find the way.
The winter garden in Duthie Park is still as beautiful :)
I love being in the tropical garden part of the green house, feel like you're back in warm tropical Malaysia.

Ashvale fish & chips is still as good too.
I can't believe we actually had a starter, main course and dessert.
My diet plans have again been flushed down the drain. *sighs*
Had no idea what to eat for starter and Mok suggested that he wanted to try pate.
and I asked him if he knew what pate was?
and I told him that it was chicken liver grounded into a paste, and I didn't think that Chinese people like eating such things.
See I seem to like figuring out and making up my own mind about what I think people like and don't like. and I like to stop people from trying new things cause I think they might not like it.
So yeah note to self to stop trying to control people?
and note to self again to be more adventurous and try new things?
I don't really like trying new things cause I'm scared that it won't be good and then I'd curse and be annoyed.
So yeah in the end we did try the pate, which turned out surprisingly good :)

Some other thing which I have generalized about.
I think that chinese boys don't listen to Snow Patrol and have never even heard of Snow Patrol.
and I asked my friend who is a Chinese guy that.
and he says,"well I listen to Snow Patrol and I'm chinese. Maybe it's the Chinese Guys you hang out with who don't listen to Snow Patrol. Snow Patrol is a famous band and lots of people listen to it."
and I was like,"oh."

Wahaha maybe I think I am too cool and that I happent to discover and listen to cool alternative rock bands.
Whereas all the kononnya indie rock music I listen to are actually quite mainstream.

By the way, the following few sentences are all the nonsense I've been getting up to during ward rounds last Friday.

The ST2 was flipping through some leaflet on sexually transmitted diseases during ward rounds.
and I gleefully sidled up next to the nurse and loudly proclaim that, "I don't have any STDs!"
The ST2 glanced up and remarked,"So is that what you write on your lonelyhearts page? That you don't have any STDs and that you have a sense of humour?"
Argh. I curled my fingers into a fist and faked punched him.
But he is forgiven, as he bring out his stash of wonderful filtered coffee during ward round morning break.
Wonderful filtered coffee gives me a HUGE high for the day!
Also wonderful filtered coffee is totally screwing up my sleep. But that doesn't exactly make sense cause I drink the darn coffee in the morning, how come can screw up my sleep at night? I don't understand. What the heck.
The worst thing when I can't sleep is all sorts of nonsense creep into my head. All my insecurities, worries about life, and this has resulted in tossing and turning in bed all night. Argh.

Second story yang best.

In the cardiothoracic ward, they have this red heart shaped cardboard cut outs hanging from the ceiling as decorations. Anyway the houseman thought it was decorations for Valentine's Day.
and I was like,"No it's the cardiothoracic ward."
This results in both of us ROFL-ing.
I know not funny but I don't know why we found it really funny.

Third story yang tak tau best ker tidak.

During ward rounds, we went to see this patient.
He was kinda high on all the pain killers and morphine I think.
He ask, "Are any of you a professional backscratcher?"
The nurse replied with a perfectly straight face, "Yes. But then it will cost you."
I stood in the corridor laughing for quite some time.

I'm damn weird. I always laugh at the silliest things.

I got one damn lame joke coming up next.

When we were walking back from Ashvale restaurant, I picked up a pair of pink gloves from the road.
The gloves are from Marks and Spencer ok. Don't play-play.
Anyway I put it on my hand and said,"It fits like a glove!"
So damn lame.
But funny ok.
Hahhahahaahahaha.

and a BIG BIG thanks to Wen Xern for taking care of me for so many days.
Love all of you loads xx

p.s. Can't wait to go back to Manchester again!!! =)

haha Guess What I found!

I was looking through my stuff today, trying to look for something.

Then I came across some old photos.

*sobs*

~reminiscence~

Way way too long ago.

Anyway, not important.

But I did manage to find a 10 pound ang pow which I got last year!!!
hahaha I thought I lost it or something.
Yeah!!
Happy Chinese New Year to all this weekend :)

By the way, this stupid mok called me this afternoon and told me that he was going to Manchester.
Why is he called stupid mok, coz he informed me so bloody late!!!!
I can't go down, cause last minute tickets down are freaking expensive.
Anyway I shall not go down anymore for some time, because according to my calculations, everytime I go down, I can buy myself a nice new coat.
So what do you think? Go down twice in a month, or buy myself a new coat?? hmmm...yeah I do realize I am being a wee bit calculative, but the thing is I just went down to Manchester like 2 weeks ago.
booo. I do regret not booking my tickets earlier to Edinburgh though, then I can see Yan Li and Yan Mei again. *sobs*
and no Glasgow for me too. cause the train tickets are way too expensive as well.

Oh well.
I guess at least I can get some volunteering work done this Saturday.

New post

Sorry long time no post already.

See this post is gonna be very broken English.

why?

coz I lazy to write proper English.
and coz I chatting to too many people with my broken English.

Anyway Chinese New Year this weekend.

Anyway I was damn pissed off this morning.
Cause I did some super silly dumb thing.
I didn't bother to take my thumb drive out of my laptop and just stuck everything into my bag to carry to school.
So when I arrived, I realized that my thumb drive had snapped.
All my freaking DATA was lost.
The many days and many hours I spent putting all my questionnaire data into Excel--ALL GONE!!!
By the way, if you are wondering why I do stupid things like that, this is because I am used to my tiny thumb drive, the one with Sueyi's monkey attached to it. I always leave it on and nothing happens.
Anyway my thumb drive was given to me by some drug company. yeah yeah I know I'm so cheapo. LOLz.

Anyway where was I?

Well I am sitting here re-doing all my work again.
and and Did I tell you, the weather here sucks.
It's like freaking wet, cold, raining, windy.
OMG.
It's like totally messing up my hair.
and my shoes!
omg. Ruining my shoes.
I know I'm so freaking bimbotic.

Haih I got so many freaking things to complain about.
I can sit here all day and complain and complain.

So yeah let's change the topic.

About Chinese New Year...
hmmmm I'm not sure what my plans are this year.
Go to Glasgow?
Stay in Aberdeen!??

Apparently there's some Chinese New year party in Glasgow where all the Malaysians will be there. So that should be fun.
and in Aberdeen they're going to Manchurian to eat. that yucky Chinese restaurant.
yucks.
I wanna complain about the Chinese restaurants in Aberdeen.
one long long post also not enough.
sobs.
Okay need to go home now.
Shall continue this later.

Pimples

Yesterday, I suddenly noticed a bunch of pimples had appeared out of nowhere sitting happily on my left chin.

I poked and prodded at the spots to no avail.

Ran into Ed's room.
He was on the phone.
Showed him my spots, and ran away after that.
He said to his friend on the phone, "Anita is showing me her spots" and his friend replied sarcastically, "That's nice of her".

Ran back in.
Ask him if he had any anti-blemish cream.
He said, "No." Then as an after thought he added, "you can barely see the pimples though"
I thought I had seen some cream somewhere so I rummaged through his toiletries bag, looking for anything I can put on my face.
I'm so jealous of his face cleaning set.
All from Clinique.
So jealous.
Was contemplating using his Clinique Scruffing lotion which is akin to a toner.

Ended up finding a tube of Savlon cream.
Frantically dabbed some onto those evil red spots.
*dab*dab*dab*

He said, "Savlon cream is for wounds."
I said," Well it's an antiseptic cream, and pimples have bacteria."

He said, "Anita, you're a weirdo."
I said, "Well you're bonkers."

Runs away again.

Substance Misuse Clinic

I decided to switch back to my old blog skin in the end, cause I finally managed to figure out why I had to keep looking at html. Rupa-rupanya I was on the edit HTML mode. Argh!

So yeah where was I?

Took the bus down to Elgin today for substance misuse clinic.

Guess what!!
I didn't have to pay for the bus ride down!!

I got up on the bus, and ask the driver for a return bus ticket to Forres,
and the bus driver who was a youngish lad said that the machine had broken down and he couldn't issue any return tickets, and just ask me to hop onto the bus.
Wahhaa!! good stuff eh?
I managed to catch a ride back with the nurse I was attached to cause she is from Forres too. She's so nice :)

But then I ended up spending money, and buying a birthday card for mum, and a belt for myself.
*sighs*
The sales are evil I tell you!!

Elgin is bigger than I thought, there are so many shops there.
Anyway I'm going back there again on Thursday for orthopaedic clinic.

I spent most of my time at the substance misuse clinic reading my book- Sophie's world, cause everybody was busy doing their work, due to lack of staff.

Oh by the way, I saw lots of condoms everywhere.
Even Durex! Durex is to condoms what Jimmy Choo is to shoes.
I told the patient that they were free condoms, and I said Durex condoms are quite expensive aren't they? and he ended up taking a bunch and stuffing them into his pocket and said, "Never know when I might get lucky eh?"
LOLz! :)

Then in another room, I saw flavoured condoms.
Wow! I was so surprised.
Then, an evil plan popped into my head to wind Ed up and I asked the nurse if I could have some so that I could give them to my friend, and she packed vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavoured ones into a bag for me.
So damn pai seh!
But I persevered.
I kept saying that, I didn't want them for myself, and I wanted them to wind my friend up, and she was like, "That's what you're saying."
Hahhahaa.

Anyway I would like to once again proclaim my innocence.
I really did get them for my housemate.
See I'm such a good and considerate friend ok.
Hahahaha.

I came back knock on his door.
Ask him if I could ask him a personal question, all the while, giggling like mad.
He said, " I don't think I want to answer your question."
Anyway ask him if he was into er... *censored*
Then I gave him his Christmas present.

Then I ran away laughing.

Phone Number

My friend Yin Hui is on msn telling me about how last time in secondary school, we used to go for Kasturi tuition and his friend Jason was interested in this Malay mix with Japanese girl and wanted to get her name and phone number but was too chicken to do it. So apparently in the end I got it for him. Anyway her name was Khairulnisa and she's quite pretty.

Hhahahahahah Anyway I kinda forgot that I did such a thing before.

So yeah anyway if anyone out there scared to do anything, come and ask me. I'll ask the girl out for you. Hahahhahaha.

By the way I seem to be playing knight in shining armour and rescuing all the "damsels in distress". Pleas note my obvious sarcasm there :)

1. I fixed Edward's wireless internet connection for him.

2. I figured out how to turn Edward's heater down.

3. And he made me read the map and direct him on how to get to Dingwall. So I teased him and said that he doesn't know how to read the map. And he replied that, he can't read the map while driving :P By the way, I HATE reading maps.

4. Then last time in Aberdeen in the hotel room, when all the lights went off, and us plus the concierge were hunting all over for the electricity box, and I found it in the end, so the concierge managed to get the electricity back on.

5. The time when those two called me up on the phone, and was complaining about how the washing machine and heater and this and that was not working in the new flat. And I was wondering how come one is a boy and the other one is an engineer, calling me up the girl who is a medic and I was staying far away from the house to ask me about their flat stuff when I'm not even there. Anyway in the end I did go back during that weekend, and figured out why the washing machine was not working.
The reason was because they didn't switch on the electricity plug point properly -_-

I can't think of anymore examples at the moment, but I think that will suffice.

How to become muscular

So anyway right today I was seeing patients in clinic, then one of my patients asked me on advice how to beef up and become more muscular cause he said he has been going to the gym a lot and also eating a lot of junk food.

Hmmm...So I didn't really know how to answer his question,
then my GP told him that it's all due to genetics and some people eat and exercise a lot but are still not able to become muscular and advised him to eat healthy and exercise.

So over dinner, I asked Edward about it.
Cause you know Edward goes to the gym a lot so he is quite muscular.

By the way, don't let Edward know I put his picture up on the internet, he will kill me. LOL.

Also Edward's friend Gareth suddenly became super muscular over summer (yeah I'm so shocked too, cause I saw his pictures on facebook), and gave him some good advice on it.

What Edward told me was:
1. Do more anaerobic exercise e.g lifting weight, swimming etc.
2. Don't do aerobic exercises.
3. Eat lots and lots and lots of protein.

So yeah that's the 3 step programme on how to build bulk.

As for me, the best advice I can give is on how to become a fatty bom-bom like me. OMG seriously I put on damn a lot of weight in the past month staying in the bed and breakfast.

1. Eat lots of food. Just finish up everything you are given.
2. Eat a fatty cooked breakfast every morning. The works: Sausage, black pudding, bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, fried mushroom, toast, fruit, yoghurt, coffee, orange juice.
3. Eat lots and lots of dessert cakes, pudding. Basically whatever you can lay your hands on. Yummylicious :)
4. Sit in bed all day.
5. Don't do any exercise. I have quite a good excuse for this one--damn cold outside!
6. Sleep a lot.
7. Watch lots of tv, read a book, skype, telephone just sit on your bed and don't get out to get any fresh air.

Hahahahah good stuff right? No wonder I'm so fat already, and I can hardly button my pants :0

Sloth

OMG..

Why am I so lazy??
I really should be updating this blog more often.
Anyway hrmm...let me think what's new..
Well I'm currently in Forres doing my GP attachment for 7 weeks.

As you guess from the name Forres, the town seems to be in the middle of a forest. It's got trees everywhere, and most people work in the forestry industry.
By the way, it's autumn and the place is gorgeous, cause the trees are all changing colours, and it's all just multi-coloured. To be frank though, it's probably not as nice now, cause all the trees have gone bald, and most of the leaves have been shed, but about 1-2 weeks ago, the place was just gorgeous, with trees filled with beautiful yellow, brown gold leaves.

If you were wondering where the heck is Forres, well it's approximately 1 hour and 43 minutes train ride away from Aberdeen. Twice, I took the freaking bus, and it took more than 3 hours. Bleurghhhh..I hate taking the bus. I only take it sometimes cause it's much cheaper than the train. shit, need to be less kiam siap.

I am really enjoying GP here.
I used to absolutely hate GP work, especially as I didn't have a good experience with my previous GP attachments, and I thought it absolutely horrid and boring, but this attachment has absolutely changed my outlook on GP work.
Everybody here is absolutely lovely and nice.
My Gp- Dr Thomson is absolutely brilliant. I'm so sooo glad that I put him as my first choice in the GP choice form, and thank God they gave me my first choice too =)

And the other GP Dr Sneddon absolutely cracks me up. He tells the best best stories ever. I was listening to him tell me stories about this doctor who was supposed to be working, but escaped away to play golf, and was struck by lightning and ended having quite severe burns. Absolutely hilarious! Oh did I mention that he goes hunting and fishing for salmon. He hunts deers, pheasants etc. Wow, I find it so absolutely fascinating, hunting seems so medieval and I didn't even know that people still did that, I used to think only English aristocracy practiced such sports. It's like as if he stepped out of a story book or something.

By the way, I was also fascinated by how the surgeon in Wick-Mr Fisher is able to fly a plane, sail a boat and chops wood for his house. Oh oh, did I tell you that Mr Fisher is tall and charming to boot. His wife is very beautiful, tall and slim with the most gorgeous green eyes, and whom I had to perform venepuncture on, in more lay man terms- take a blood sample from her. But anyway I digress.

I'm so spell-bound and impressed by everybody. Seriously I only read about people who do such things in story books. Haha, I guess life here is really different compared to my old life living in a big city with all its infrastructure and buildings and fast-paced life and pollutions.

Oh yeah, I would also like to add how I feel like such an idiot!!
Dr Sneddon was telling me about how he won so many prizes as a medical student, and that he and Dr Thomson were both distinction students in medical school. And the rest of the doctors in the practice have passed various other post graduate exams. And and Dr Thomson has like two degrees, I can't remember what degree he did before doing medicine. And Dr Sneddon was showing me his books and the stuff he had to memorise as a medical student, and he was telling me about how hard he studied as a medical student. Oh by the way, I also want to add that Sueyi got 99 again for her USMLE Step 2 exam, so damn geng!! Congrats again!!!
Why am I surrounded by so many smart smart people!??
To be fair, all these people worked really hard, so I think they totally deserve all their successes.
As the title of this post suggest, yes I do have to admit that I have been lazy of late, especially since 5th year begun because we don't have major exams this year. Our major exam was in 4th year. And basically 5th year is just about shadowing the houseman in hospital, and helping them do their work which is quite no-brainer. Cause it's just taking history, doing examination, taking bloods. In other words, almost like a glorified clerk :P
So in comparison I am definitely enjoying GP work more as I get to see more diverse cases and use my brains to figure out things cause I get asked a lot more questions. Although I do feel that I was being a bit sneaky during my surgical attachment, as I used to run away from the surgical ward to attend all the different clinics going on downstairs. But to be fair to me, there wasn't a lot going on in the surgical ward in Wick and it was extremely quiet at times, and I was bored witless sitting around doing nothing!!

Ok, that's enough for today, shall continue again later on as I have to go off for a shower now.

Roast Lamb

One day, bought a leg of lamb on offer and decided to make roast lamb.

This is so extremely simple to make and oh soo delicious.

Heat oven at up 200 degrees Celsius.

Firstly wash the leg of lamb, then shake it dry.

Then, marinate with salt and pepper.

Then then, make wee slits all over the lamb and chop up some garlic and stuff garlic, pepper and rosemary into the wee slits.

Chop up some red onions and put under the lamb. In the picture I used shallots instead cause no onions lying around.

Then put some slices of butter on the lamb.

Then throw it into the oven and let it roast.

Every 15 mins or so you can take it out and baste the lamb. Which means take the juice from the bottom of the baking dish and pour it over the lamb.

If you want you can also roast potatoes or parsnips and carrots to go with the dish.

I roasted the lamb for about 2 hours and a bit. I'm not sure about the timing but just do a rough estimate by looking at the lamb.

Then you can also make gravy with the rest of the sauce left in the baking dish after you're done roasting the lamb, by combining it with wine/sherry, and some cornflour. But I'm very lazy to make gravy. I think the lamb was nice by itself.

And....

TA-DAAAA!

Thorntons Chocolate Cake

Once upon a time during the summer holidays in London, went to Waitrose and guess what!

We found Thorntons Chocolate cake being sold at only 2.99 pounds because it was going to expire soon. The normal price for the cake is about 15 pounds I reckon.

Absolute INDULGENCE......

Oh man, this chocolate cake is just sooo DIVINE!!!

In addition it's got truffles on top of the cake too. Delicious :)

Oops forgot to add, absolutely fattening too.

I have no idea how me and my brother managed to finish up the whole cake.
